Year 5 spent the day at Viking Bay, learning how to surf! The children were so well behaved and had a fantastic time in and out of the water. Maple class also took part in some street dance lessons outside!
This year’s talent show took place in the classroom due to restrictions but the children were amazing! It was lovely to see their bravery in performing in front of an audience and the range of talent we have in Maple class.
The children in Maple classes worked in groups to create a playscript based on our topic, ‘What have the Romans ever done for us?’ Once they had edited their work, they designed and made props before performing these as documentaries.
At the end of each topic, the children have a chance to show off their learning on a Flourish day. Using their knowledge from the topic, they plan what they would like to make then build it over the course of a day. This is an opportunity for adults to question their knowledge and learning and to also see the children’s hands-on skills in action. The results are always amazing!
Maple class have produced some beautiful artwork this term. First of all, they designed their own Roman mosaics and used a range of materials and grout to fix the tiles in place. After this, they focused their work around the paintings of Seok Jeong Hyeon. They brought in photographs of themselves at varying ages and combined these to make a brilliant piece of art!
I have had such a fun and rewarding year with these amazing children! Thank you for all your support across the school year and have a wonderful and relaxing summer!
