It’s all about the children
Wingham Writes!
In June, we launched our very first Wingham Writes competition for all our budding authors! There were no rules about the types of stories the children could enter, and we received stories on a wonderful variety of themes including: magical lands, fairies, superheroes, dinosaurs, naughty children, Greek goddesses, portals, monsters, ghosts and even talking foods!
We were privileged to have authors Jon Holmes and Lucy Strange as our judges. They had a very difficult task in selecting the winners and runners-up in each age category but once they had made their decisions, they recorded an awards ceremony video announcing the chosen stories. They were as follows:
4-7 years
Winner: Imogen
Runners-up: Tristan and Thomas
8-11 years
Winner: Amelie
Runners-up: Thomas and Amber
Congratulations to the winners and well done to everyone who entered the competition. We will be back next year with Wingham Writes: the sequel.
Fire Service Visit
On Monday 19th July we had a special visit from the Fire Service. We are very grateful they were able to take time out of their very busy day to come and give the Wingham children a hands on experience. Who knows, it may have just ignited someone's interest in the field and will inspire them to be a Fire Person one day.
Summer Eco Challenge
One of Wingham's Eco Leaders has made a summer challenge. How about helping us combat climate change one small step at a time. Here is a great summer holiday activity to do, please send us any pictures of yourselves for our website. Together we can make change!
Our Outdoor Classroom
We are delighted to announce, that we have further developed outdoor learning through the installation of an amazing Outdoor Classroom.
Our new outdoor classroom provides our children with an excellent outdoor learning base, which provides shelter and shade from the elements.
We are now able to take the children outside to learn amongst nature in a fresh air environment.
For this project, we worked with Pentagon Play who design and install outdoor learning environments for schools and nurseries.

Easter Egg Competition March 2021
The children were invited to decorate an egg in the form of a famous person, past or present. The entries were brilliant and really made us smile.
February 2021
Our amazing parents have raised funds for the whole school staff as a way of showing their thanks for everyone's hard work, support and dedication during the 2021 lockdown period. We will be enjoying a special lunch every Wednesday for the next term!!
We are all so grateful for the incredibly kind and thoughtful gesture.
Eco Team - Competition Dec 2020 BIRD FEEDERS
Our school Eco Team judged the school competition and chose 17 winners in total. All the entries were worthy winners, it was very hard to choose! The bird feeders were all very thoughtful and fit for purpose.
October 2020
All classes across the school took part in a Willow Workshop. New Art and D.T skills were learnt and the final piece has been installed in the school library. The children have created a wonderful mythical woodland scene.
This September we renamed all the classes after trees that can be found around the school grounds. Everyone made a leaf representing their tree and they have been displayed as one special Wingham tree in our school entrance hall. We used different techniques from salt dough sculptures to sewing.
