Maple class created their own planets using Papier Mache. They painted them and created features (waterfalls of lava, pink clouds) before writing a description of them. There was a focus on accurate sentences as well as using exciting language such as adjectives and verbs.

Term 1’s artist was Peter Thorpe. He creates abstract art using paint, chalk and rockets. The class used a colour wheel to choose complimentary or contrasting colours, practiced different paint brush strokes and used chalk for a variety of effects. Their final pieces were awesome!

Maple class have been conducting a range of experiments during term 1. They learnt about gravity and used Newton metres to measure the weight of objects.

We have conducted a few science experiments tis term including gravity, air resistance and friction. For their friction experiment, they used Newton metres and different types of surface to test which material is best for footwear.
