Term 6

As part of our year 5 topic, ‘What have the Romans done for us? The class researched how the Romans moved water from reservoirs, rivers and lakes. They planned, designed and began making their own aqueducts in small groups. They used hot glue guns, saws and other tools to make their product before testing these with water. There were some excellent working aqueducts and some that needed improvements!

Year won the attendance award for term 5 and were rewarded with a trip to the park. Using the money from their lemonade enterprise week, they bought an ice cream from the ice cream van! Well done for winning the attendance award again!

They also visited Quex park to play mini-golf (some wild swings and lost golf balls later!), walk with some goats, ride on a tractor trailer and spent time playing, running and jumping in the play area.

The week ended with sports day in which the children showed great determination and excellent team work. Well done to Chaucer for their sports day win!

Year 5 spent the day dressed as Romans! They tried a range of foods that were brought to Britain by the Romans including olives, seeded bread, artichokes and fennel! They played Roman games as had battles as Gladiators!
