“Education for global citizenship helps enable young people to develop the core competencies which allow them to actively engage with the world, and help to make it a more just and sustainable place.”

At Wingham Primary School, we strongly believe in developing children as Global Citizens, who actively engage in activities to bring about positive social change.
This page has been dedicated to the various activities that take place within the school, in relation to this aspect of our ethos. Please check back regularly to see how the students are being educated about the rights of children and how they are supporting others to access their rights locally, nationally and globally.
“Why do some people and animals move from one country to another, and what are some reasons they might decide to live in a new place?”
Our objectives:
Exploring migration, borders, what it means to leave one’s home.
Recognising the courage, fear, uncertainty that many displaced people face.
Developing an understanding that migration is complex, and while it involves danger, hardship, it’s often driven by the hope for safety and a better life.

Education for global citizenship supports young people to explore and question the world around them. It promotes critical thinking, advocates social justice and encourages learners to apply their learning to real world issues.
