We have had a busy term with a couple of visits out of school. First, we went on a village walk. We took pictures of key places then created our own maps.
The following week, we visited The Rare Breeds Centre and had a fantastic day! We met lots of farm animals, had a tractor ride and watched pig racing. When we returned to school, we used the pictures we had taken to help us write a recount.
During literacy, we read the story ‘The Little Red Hen’. We learnt about how flour is produced and visited the bakery to buy some bread. After tasting several different breads, we decided to plan and make our own bread roll. We worked as a group to make the dough, then added extra ingredients such as raisins, chocolate chips and cherries. They tasted delicious! After making the rolls, we wrote the recipe, as well as letters of apology from the animals to the hen.
In art, we have been learning about David Hockney. We sketched our landscapes then carefully painted them. Once they were dry, we added our final details using oil pastels.
We rounded off the term with a lovely ‘We are champions week’. We had an incredible time at Jump at Westwood Cross playing on the trampolines and inflatables. We have also been lucky enough to have a yoga lesson and take part in sports day!
