Term 3

We have loved our pirate topic this term and had an amazing morning with Captain Raggybeard. He told us all about his friend Shelly the mermaid, made us walk the plank and taught us about life on a pirate ship.

In literacy we have read ‘The Pirates next door’ and ‘Sunk!’. Here are some of our character descriptions, apology letters and stories. Our handwriting has been amazing!

In art, we used our colour mixing skills to create different shades of blue. Once we had created the sea, we used our collage skills to create our pirate ship. We have also been learning about Henri Matisse. We have attempted to recreate one of his famous collages called ‘The Snail’.

In geography, we have been learning that the earth is split into seven continents. We used the atlases to locate the continents and have made our own balloon globe. On our globes we have labelled and correctly positioned each continent.

In science, we have been learning about materials. We can name materials and describe their properties. Over the last few weeks, we have been working as scientists to investigate waterproof and absorbent materials.
