Term 4

Wow! We have had such a busy term! We really enjoyed having our significant females come into school to help us make our pirate ships. They were all very impressive and included all the key features of a ship. We were very excited when they all floated!

In DT, we have continued the pirate theme and designed and made our own pirate ships using recycled materials. Once they were built, we tested them to see if they would float and completed our critique. It was lovely having our significant females into class to help us with our ship building.

In art, we have continued to learn about Henri Matisse. This term we have made our own sea themed collages inspired by ‘Polynesia the sea’. We used Matisse’s technique of ‘drawing with scissors’ to cut out our sea themed shapes.

In PE we have had lots of fun learning about curling! We have learnt how to push the stone to ensure it lands as close to the target as possible.

In maths, we have been learning about place value to 50. We are able to represent numbers using different resources. We have also learnt about mass and capacity. We used the balance scales to help us to understand heavier and lighter.

Finally we had a very busy science week! We visited Monkton nature reserve where we took part in four activities. We learnt about the parts of a plant, looked for signs of spring, visited the museum and explored the pond area. During school we also took part in a range of activities including making birds nests and learning about pollination using cheesy puffs!
