Term 6
In art this term we have been learning about the Brazilian artist Beatriz Milhazes and have created our own collages which are inspired by her work. We looked closely at how she layers bright colours and different shapes in her work and have achieved this in our own artwork by layering cut out shapes on top of painted shapes.
In maths we have been learning about shapes and angles. We have spent time outside looking for acute and obtuse angles as well as perpendicular and parallel lines. We were surprised by how many we found within the classroom and school grounds. We have also been learning about the properties of 2D and 3D shapes and are able to describe different shapes using mathematical vocabulary such as edge, curved surface and face.
In science we have been learning about animals including humans. We have learnt about the different food groups and know that it is important to eat a balanced diet. Recently, we have been learning about the human skeleton and have been creating a picture of this using natural materials.
Finally, we had an amazing ‘We are champions’ week where we were able to try skateboarding, cycling and archery! The week ended with a fantastic sport day.
